So this is what happens behind the scene when you post a toot. All of #fediverse sends requests to your server within seconds. I can imagine why Mastodon instances are so overloaded these days.
@prtl to be exact, all of the fediverse servers that your server federates with. Of course, you have no control over that. You can see a sample of many servers that issue requests in the attached image.
@prtl It's by design. So both sides have builtin ways to handle such bumpy traffic.
